Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao is a Professor at the College of Arts and Science, University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), Obrero, Davao City. She has supervised research projects of more than 20 undergraduate and graduate students on pest and disease management of various crops.
As a researcher, Dr. Generalao is noted for her contribution to the body of knowledge of biological control of plant parasitic nematodes using Paecilomyces lilacinus which paved the way for the commercialization of a biocontrol agent known as BIOACT. Her extension work covers not only on training of farmers and technicians on diagnosis and management of pests and diseases of major crops but also public awareness of biotechnology in Agriculture.
Dr. Generalao's past position as Research Coordinator and Director of USeP and current position as Consortium Director of the Southern Mindanao Agricultural Resources and Research Development (SMARRDEC) Consortium reflect her commitment as a tireless government worker. She has provided the overall coordination and direction in the formulation, packaging and evaluation of several research programs and projects on pest and disease problems of major commodities which led to the approval of substantial budget for Region XI.
