  • 1960 Office of the president in Malacanang approved the observance of Plant Pathology Week
  • 1963 May 11 First PPS organizational Meeting was held at plant Pathology Department, UPLB, with Dr. Mario O. San Juan as charter president.
  • 1963 October 10 General membership approved and ratified the PPS By Laws and Articles of Incorporation
  • 1964 May 7-8 First PPS Annual Scientific Meeting was held in Baguio City
  • 1965 January The first issue of the Journal of the Philippine Phytopathology was published
  • 1965 April 10-11 Second PPS Annual Scientific Meeting was held at UPLB, College, Laguna
  • 1970 First National Pest Control Council of the Philippines (PCCP) conference was held at Central Philippines University, Jaro, Iloilo City with PPS as one of the member societies of PCCP
  • 1971 October 22 Articles of Incorporators of PPS was registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
  • 1974 First Best Paper Award was given by PPS
  • 1974 May 24  PPS was registered with SEC as a non-profit organization
  • 1977 First Symposium on Plant Pathology, 1917-1977 was implemented
  • 1979 First Membership Directory was published
  • 1984 PPS G.O. Ocfemia Scholarship Trust Fund was established
  • 1984 August 28  Memorandum of Understanding between UPLB and PPS granting PPS G.O. Ocfemia Scholarship Award effective 2nd semester 1984-1985 was signed by Dr. E.Q. Javier and Dr. T.T. Reyes, representing UPLB and PPS, respectively.
  • 1986 Symposium on Disease Management in the Tropics was held 
  • 1989 December  Symposium in Plant Pathology and First National Symposium/Workshop on Bunchy Top Disease of Banana and Abaca was held in Davao City
  • 1990 PPS Southern Mindanao was organized
  • 1990 Publication Trust Fund was established
  • 1991 February 7-8   First National Symposium/Workshop on Ringspot and Other Diseases of papaya was held at BPI, Manila
  • 1992 PPS Northern Luzon and PPS Visayas Division were organized
  • 1992 March 19-20    First National Symposium/workshop on Mango Diseases was held at BPI, Manila
  • 1993 May 7 First PPS-PMCP Bayer Philippines Best Undergraduate Thesis Award was given
  • 1993 Oct 28-29 First National Symposium/Workshop onTristeza, Leaf Mottling, and other Major Diseases in citrus was held at BPI-BNCRDC, Baguio City 1994 Mar 23-23  National Symposium/Workshop on Environmental Concerns and Issues on Disease and Post-Harvest Management of Major Vegetable Crops and Cutflowers in the Philippines was held at BPI-BNCRDC, Baguio City
  • 1994 PPS Northern Mindanao Division was organized and the second PPS Membership Directory was published
  • 1996 May 6  National Symposium on Plant Pathology Education was held in Davao City
  • 1997 Compendium on Mango Diseases authored by PPS member Dr. J.M. Dangan was published
  • 1998 Third PPS Membership Directory was published
  • 2000 December PPS Bicol Division was organized
  • 2001 March 22 PPS Central Luzon Division was organized
  • 2001 May 3  Philippine Phytopathology was renamed as the Journal of Tropical Plant Pathology
  • 2001 Oct 29-30 Symposium/Workshop on the Use of Biotechnology for Biological Science was held at BPI-BNRCDC, Baguio City
  • 2002 May PPS Northern Mindanao Division was reorganized
  • 2002 May 8 First issue of Journal of Tropical Plant Pathology (Volume 37, Number 1) was released
  • 2004 (last qtr) Renewal of PPS registration to SEC
  • 2005 May 2  Launching of PPS Website (www.philphytopath.org)
  • 2005 Oct 26-28 Training on Diagnosis and Management of Nematode Diseases in Banana and Other Crops was held at Crop Protection Cluster, UPLB, College, Laguna
  • 2006 April 4-7 Training on Molecular and Serological Techniques in  Plant Disease Diagnosis held at the Crop Protection Cluster, UPLB, College, Laguna
  • 2007 Jan 17-18  2nd National Symposium on Abaca, Banana, and Mango Diseases and Insect Pests was held at the Crop Protection Cluster – Institute of Plant breeding, UPLB, College, Laguna
  • 2008 May PPS celebrated its 45th Anniversary in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan with the theme “PPS at 45: Gearing up and moving forward to face challenges”.
  • 2008 May 23 2008-2009 Officers and BOD met Dr. Mario O. San Juan, 1st PPS President, during a luncheon meeting held in Kamayan Restaurant, Calauan, Laguna
  • 2008 June   Training on Banana Virus indexing using ELISA in June 2008 held at Crop Protection Cluster – Institute of Plant Breeding, UPLB, College, Laguna
  • 2008 Nov 26  PPS conceptualized and spearheaded the holding of a  Farmer’s Forum cum Pest Clinic dubbed as “Plant Doctors on Wheels” in Bayog, Los Baños, Laguna.
  • 2009 March 25-27   Training on “Plant Disease Diagnostics” for a more reliable and accuratedisease detection and identification held at Crop Protection Cluster – Institute of Plant Breeding, UPLB, College, Laguna
  • 2009 Feb 4 PPS spearheaded the holding of a Farmer’s Forum cum Pest Clinic dubbed as “Plant Doctors on Wheels” in San Benito, Victoria, Laguna
  • 2010 Creation of the R.G. Davide Undergraduate Thesis Writing   Support Grant Creation of the M.E. LOPEZ Pre-Admission Support for   Graduate Study in the USA Forum on Biotechnology with the theme “Agricultural  Biotechnology: Opening doors and creating opportunities for food sustainability” was held on May 2010 at the University   of Southeastern Philippines, Obrero, Davao Training on Seed Health Testing held at U.P. Los Baños PPS spearheaded a plenary session about Sigatoka of    Banana during the 41st Anniversary and Annual Scientific Conference of the Pest Management Council of the   Philippines, Inc. in  May 2010, Davao City Creation of Golden Anniversary Steering Committee with Mr. Ceferino A. Baniqued, Charter Member, as Over-all  Chair
  • 2011 Training on Serological and Molecular Detection of Banana Viruses held at the Crop Protection Cluster, UPLB-CA, College, Laguna
    Training on Plant Disease Diagnostics held at the Crop   Protection Cluster, UPLB-CA, College, Laguna
    Forum on Biotechnology with the theme “Breakthroughs in     Science and Technology” was held on May 2011 at the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City
  • 2012 Forum on Biotechnology with the theme “Impact Pathway of Agri-biotechnology in the Philippines” on May 7, 2012 at Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City. PPS Central Mindanao Division was re-organized in Malberry Suites Hotel, Cagayan de Oro with Dr.  Alovera as PresidentSeminar by Dr. John L. Sherwood and Dr. Jan Leach held at IRRI, Los Baños,Laguna (as part of the Seminar   Series in line with the 50th Anniversary Celebration) Banner year for PPS – three PPS members won the PMCP Award  - in Instruction, Research, and Extension & Community Development
